Lunarfest is a celebration of the Lunar New Year and Chinese culture, offering arts and cultural programs for adults and children throughout the city of New Haven and at Yale. Special events are programmed in January and February, but save the date for the big day on Saturday, February 8, 2020.

Workshops, Activities & Performances

After the Lion and Dragon Dance Parade, visit one of Lunarfest’s eight indoor venues to learn more about Lunar New Year through arts and crafts, calligraphy workshops, Chinese music performances and more! See a small sampling of last year’s festivities below. Check back soon for Lunarfest 2020 programming. Children attending this year’s events should be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

Lunarfest was founded by Council on East Asian Studies, New Haven Museum and the Yale-China Association in New Haven. This is the 8th year of Lunarfest, and now New Haven is home to the biggest Lunar New Year celebration in Connecticut. Lunarfest is a perfect time to explore the diverse riches New Haven has to offer. Lunarfest gives you an opportunity to explore New Haven’s history, food, arts and more!
